I would like to have your opinion about a business model I was thinking about recently.
Basically, people would pay a monthly fee to gain access to streaming videos made during trips made in Europe and Japan on mountainbike with an embarked camera.
First, I'm wondering if people would pay, even a small fee, to view such a content. Video means lots of bandwith and diskspace. That's why I have to be sure that some profit can be made.
The other problem is about the video player. The best option would be to use a technology that doesn't leave the whole movie inside the computer cache. There was an interesting Java applet developped by a company I won't name here since they never bothered to reply to my emails. I guess other companies provide such products. Someone has any idea?
Thanks a lot for your inputs :)
I think you would have to provide some type of preview facility (maybe a 60 second clip) before anyone will buy. Then it is a quetion of conversion rate verses the cost of people viewing the previews and advertising costs to get them to the site in the first place.
If you happen to come across one of the Hilton sisters on the way I guess this could be a real money spinner......otherwise, IHMO, I would doubt the returns are likely to be there.
