One of my clients is a web site conception agency. They finally woke up and want to offer
web site promotion to theyre clients. They need to know how much traffic boost they can expect from different packages. My results vary a lot from 230% to 4290%. I all depends from where we start and what tactics we can use. I am curious to know some other averages because my samples are quite limited.
Here are my averages from 42 French Web sites mostly about art and culture or professionnal training. No other external promotion is used in any case.
Basic optimisation of real pages Yahoo/Inktomi/Looksmart/payments done. Major SE, topic related portals, local directories, ODP and newsgroups.
Average results in 3 months. 374%
Reinforcement by link exchange prospection and java or frame redirect entry pages hosted on the same domain.
Average results in 6 months. 722%
To much of a Newbie to use Cloaking yet.
If any one can point me on global stats about SEO results I would be a happy puppy!
I had a client, who was getting only 5-7 unique hits a month on his website. After 3 month of service, he is averaging 1200 hits a day. So what do you think of the percentage ratio.
On the other example, I also have another client, who was receiving 700 unique hits a day and after 5 month of service he is with an average of 900 hits a day.
I personally believe that it depends on what web site you are talking about. If a website is already well established and ranked good, than you cannot expect to give me 500% increase in traffic. However, if a website is new or not ranked good, they can see significent increase in web traffic.
Above all, the MAIN thing to consider is the *demand* of service/product. Do you really believe that if *I* invent some new product [lets say "talking pen"], do you think that I will get 1000 hits a day. He*l no! well, first I need to create product awareness. Well that is totally different part of marketing, but coming back to your basic question - I would say, look how many times the potential keywords are being used and then try to predict average traffic. Cut it down by 20 % and tell the result to your clients. You both will be happy.
