"Needs Verification" for credit card orders - Please Help!

Is there a "correct" way of handling cc orders that do not go through?

I am processing credit card orders but sometimes they are sent back and "Need Verification" that the information is correct...

What is the best way to take care of these orders? Since I have begun selling internationally this issue has been a huge burden since the banks I need to contact are overseas and in differing time zones.

Is there a better way?

Normally if you have your own merchant account and the bank are aware you trade via the internet you shouldnt get "need verification".

Well at least in the UK anyhows.
