Here is the deal...

I owned my company for 2 years and the business was ok BUT for some reason I was stupid enough to give it up and I started working for a large financial company as an intranet webmaster... the job involved a little bit of development BUT mostly business consulting and team management. I joined in 3 years ago.

Today I woke up and realized that I am tired of it and how much I want my business back!
Since I sold my clients back in the day... I dont know who to go about getting up again.

I was out for 3 years... and I'm not sure if the good old direct marketing ideas still work. You know, flyers, faxes and email. I know the best marketing is word of mouth BUT I'm not sure if I should revisit my old clients since I handed them over to other developers.

What are your thoughts?

In the UK, you would be able to approach clients that are 3 years old, almost regardless of the deals you made with whoever bought the old business. Something to do with "reasonable competition".
