We've been using this Swiss-based registrar for many years with no problems. Suddenly their www site is unreachable and our domains are winking off the air.

Their Whois gives Germany, but the contact info on the site gives a Swiss address.
The contract you take out is to the Swiss address.

It was originally a German company but I think that it shifted tax domicile to Switzerland. Around the same time, the billing changed from Euros with German VAT to US Dollars.
