I have offered to develop and administer an information site using a currently unused "Global Environmental" domain name - this is one of those domains that resides with an "Open" organisation that offers their inventory of domains FREE to users who are willing to put time & effort into developing a site with one of their domains.
The basic "terms of use" are:
NO Pop-ups
NO automatic re-direction to other sites
NO objectionable content
No adult material
No defamatory comments
The domain has had the name servers changed to the name servers of my hosting company & I have created a name based site on my dedicated server account.
I was assuming that this would be all that is required for me to use this domain, 24 hours have passed - thought that it should be resolving to my server now - but its not.
Whois lookup shows the namesevers as changed to my hosting company.
Do I need to do anything else?
Really keen to get this "Global Environmental" site up and running.
The domain owner / "Open" organisation has asked me to put a home page up ASAP
Your hosting company needs to add DNS entries for the domain name, if they haven't already. Some give you a control panel to do that, and some don't.
