I was looking up a .com to go with a .co.uk that I owned. It came up as registered, but with no WHOIS information and it only seems to be registered for one year. (It seems to be with an Italian register)
What's going on?

Have you tried using the WHOIS lookup of that Italian registrar, assuming it's registered there?

The above is the reply from their WHOIS. It says that it's registered with them, but isn't on their database.

Maybe it was recently expired. Contact the regidtrar and ask them what the problem is.

Interesting point. With the .dk domains you can hide your registration info, provided the owner is a private person and not a company. I believe that this was introduced to limit the spamming which is based on such records. This might also be the case with .it domains?
