As the .com domain that I wanted got renewed for another year.

I was looking into other possibilities the domain is a hyphenated domain word1-word2.* I cant get any good extensions (.com .net .org are all gone)!

how respectable is a .co.uk? will this matter with search engines will they give it less priority am I better off renaming my site?

I have another name in mind but it wouldnt b 2 bad but not as gd as my 1st choice, also my second choice is like this (2numbers-word1.com) 12-word1.com would this affect search engine prioritising?

thanks for all your help, the creator.

>how respectable is a .co.uk?

If you are a UK company, it is a must - not a maybe!

>will this matter with search engines..

Not on the majors, no.

>will they give it less priority..

It makes no difference on most engines and on .uk filtering engines it gives a positive advantage. Engines such as AOL, Yahoo and Lycos don't show a .com if UK sites are selected!

surely there have gotta be easier options, rather than names with hypens and 12word etc etc...

just my opinion?

and Ditto, what Barry said, .co.uk Rocks

I am uk based so this does seem to be a good option i may go for it and poss get a parked .net at the same time, this will at least widen the scope of my site away from just the usual uk visitors, the only reason im a bit weary of .co.uk is that ive had one before and the site plummeted, but this i think was mainly to do with little to none search engine submition (i was young and naive!), so the gameplan is .co.uk and poss .net, as gd as .com d'u think? thnx for your help the creator!

I have only the suspicion that google ranks .com higher than .co.uk

Google - and other engines - won't rank one page above another simply because of the domain extension.

What will happen though - dependent upon the search engine used - is that domains will be filtered by IP or domain extension, depending on whether the user has gone to one of the regional sites, ie. AltaVista UK, etc.

Naturally some domain extensions will appear more often than others, if only because there are more of some then others.
