Virtual Dirs: Access is denied error

Virtual Dir access denied errors, although rights seem valid...

Hi!
I am maintaining the intranet of our company, which runs on IIS 5.0. It used to run perfectly allright, but now suddenly all Virtual Directories of our production (live) server give an error icon in the Internet Services Manager. It says: "Status: Access denied" for each Virtual Dir. When I look at the Sharing/Websharing rights that I have defined, I don't see any access-problems! Even when I give everyone full accessrights, I still get this error! Whenever I create a new Virtual Directory, it gives the same error immediately... Does anyone know this problem and the solution for it? The problem kinda gets on my nerves... :)
Thanks in advance!

Greetings, Marcel

if it's effecting all your sites then I'd have thought it would have something to do with the default web site in IIS. If theis appears to be OKthe only other thing I can think of is to stop and start the service..

I don't know much about IIS 5, I prefer to use apache, but I've never like the IIS Vs Apache, so I'll stop there.

Have you checked out ...

[iis5.com...]

....it also has a discussion group, I'm sure someone there will have run into the same problem somewhere along the line.
