Two federal agencies, the Food and Drug Administration and the Drug Enforcement Administration, have formed a special task force to crack down on the growing tide of illicit sales of narcotics on the Internet.
The task force may close Internet pharmacies in the United States that have operated in a legal gray area for years by hiring physicians who write prescriptions based solely on the results of an e-mail questionnaire."If a prescription is written by a doctor based solely on information from an online questionnaire, it's not valid, so the distribution is illegal," Ms. Willis said.

The official line from the drug cos. is always that they need that money to research the next new wonder drugs.

As long as it stops the deluge of spam I receive from Viagra-sellers I don't care. It is becoming unbearable.

Instead of writing a small book, I'll just say that I suspect you'll see the opposite effect. You'll just have spam promoting pharmacies in other countries.
Funny thing... There's a huge amount of spam related to web marketing in various forms. Should we regulate that or make it illegal? Making web marketing illegal in the US would have a much bigger effect on the web marketing spam. (In relation to the other subject.)
As far as spam goes, I'm much more bothered by being sent xxx graphical images in html email and would personally take that one up first.

The pharmacy spam would increase as more customers had demand for products and had a harder time finding them. The spam and order fulfillment would just originate from countries other than the US. As much as it tries to be, the US *isn't* the world.

46 million people in this country with no health care and no discounts on prescriptions. I'm from a rural area, and know retired people trying to live on $800 a month social security (or less), and having to pay half of that out for medication.
People on the Canadian border (Detroit, etc.) can simply drive over the line and save money. People 600 miles away can't do the same.
I find myself in the category of trying to decide whether to leave my pharmacy sites up and running (sales have been good the last couple days) or if I should pull the plug and let the highest bidder take over the risk for me...what do you guys think...have you pulled your sites?
