Do they convert sales?

I finally broke down and threw parasite.js on a site with a way to buy anti-parasite software for people who are infected.

I've been sending clicks to Aluria for the last couple of days, but I'm not that pleased with the conversion rate.

Almost 1000 clicks to their site and 0 sales so far.

Anyone else out there have experience with Aluria and is willing to share your conversion rates so I know if this is typical or not? Better yet, anyone in a different "parasite removal" affiliate program that actually converts clicks to sales, or pays for clicks? Aluria only pays for sales.

With a script like that issuing warnings, you might just want to put all sorts of affiliate links to other security software on the page.

Good point. Hadn't thought it out enough, obviously. I'm pretty sure they don't have an exclusive in the agreement and it would certainly give the "parasite results" page more of the look of a general solutions page than an affiliate page, plus be more handy for the end-user.

Sometimes you have to post in a forum like this for someone else to point out the obvious. :)

I've been an Aluria affiliate since march. Some days they convert 1 in 300 and other days it could be as bad as 1 in 2000. I've also been using a modified form of parasite.js and make it available freely. Sticky me for the url.

The conversions being posted here got me a little freaked out, because I sent a mailing to my list for their new "Gator" creative last week.

Just checked my stats and I'm seeing a very different result - 2.7% conversion rate, translating into $0.41 per click.

For the conversion rate, I really think it depends on where the traffic is coming from. Upside and I are taking some of our affiliate sites and essentially detecting if a user has parasite-ware installed that may write-over our affiliate links with their code and if they do, giving them the option of finding out more and if they click ok, sending them to Aluria's product page.

I suspect that your much higher conversion rate it probably due to much better pre-qualification of your traffic.

Upside and I have been discussing (via stickies, so that we can include URLs) an alternate method based on what SlowMove suggested, which is to take people to a page explaining exactly which parasite's they have and what they do, then presenting information on multiple parasite removal software options, all of them being affiliate links, of course.

That makes sense - my list consists of parents that opted-in to hear from me, and they are generally responsive to any recommendations I send them.

I think you have a big uphill battle trying to instruct the layman about parasites.

Please send me a sticky of your techniques in action - I'd love to see how it looks to the end user.
