Looks like an update at Wisenut and Teoma too.

Interesting...did you know that we have a Teoma Search Engine Forum [webmasterworld.com] here at WebmasterWorld? :)

So that makes 2 updates for WiseNut in the last year, I think. I haven't kept track as close I should ( perhaps...) but then I've yet to see traffic.

And every time I go to their site, after a few searches, it says, "server overload"...

Perhaps if they updated their DB, it's a sign that LookSmart is going to try to market the thing? But, where is the marketing?

One good thing, they updated my URL finally.

If they ever market this thing I'll be sitting pretty, I'l got some really good rankings.

Yes, that seems to be part of the problem...everything I've checked, I rank at the top across the board.

Traffic? Zip, zero, zilch. Though I do recall RCJ saying he gets a couple clicks now and then...

I must say the quick results i've looked at (competitive keywords) looks really good, one keyword which i've checked for a really really long time, and very often, would probably rank top 3 engine when it comes to relevancy.

But yes they have no traffic, and the number of updates of the index is "non existent".

i've seen wisenut spidering within the last week or so after a very long absence from my logs .... maybe a sign of more frequent updates?

They need some big server upgrades too. If they had the servers, I wonder how Wisenut would perform under a real load?

But at least they are still spidering.

From what I understand, the bandwidth costs are pretty large to run a serious, full scale spidering search engine.

Now that LookSmart is turning a profit, I wonder if they are having dreams of glory? :)

I always thought WiseNut was an awesome engine, especially considering the time it's taken them to build it up. Very well done.

But - hardware / bandwidth / fresh db / and serious cash, I think, are needed to get it rolling.

Better webmaster relations would go a long way, as well, imho.

Well, if WiseNut and Teoma have updated, they're still showing mid-December versions of two sites I'm involved with... both PR5, that Google has fully indexed, and Inktomi has mostly indexed. Everyone else is straggling.

WiseNut and Teoma really aren't even in the ballgame yet... they haven't even reindexed the home pages.

Yes an update!

Results are similar to Google; not exactly the same position, but most of the first pages have the same sites.

I think that linkpopularity is part of the Algo and open directory listing has a plus.
