Been around awhile, anyone heard of this engine?

Zerx search engine, anyone know anything about this engine? I bet there's a story behind it, focusing on why it never took off since it has apparently been around awhile.

Reading the About page, they have a high opinion of their work.

One flaw in their design is that clicking on the categories in the left take you to a links page, but does not include a Search Box for their index.

Clicking on my keyword produced 3 results compared to Google's 128,000

I get the feeling it's a project that was abandoned but still is being hosted for some reason.

Another corpse in the internet graveyard of wishful thinking? Or is it hibernating?

There's a note on Zerx SERPs that states:

The database size is drastically reduced from what it was prior to March, 2001. This will produce poor results for obscure queries..

Me thinks it has been abandoned. According to the About Zerx page, the idea started in 1999 and apparently has yet to get past the idea stage.
