I see this directory in paid sponsor ads all over the place. What's the scoop on these guys? Do you use them as part of your SEO services?

I guess the loud silence answers that question! ;)

I'm sure the only advantage of having your company listed in the Thomas Register is having your company listed in the Thomas Register. That's about it.

No real SEO value that I can see.

Earlier comments on TR [webmasterworld.com]. (IMO, the green books are on the short-sell list.)

<added>
Thomas Publishing offers many other services besides the famous green books.

Hello,

We use it several times a year when looking for sources to manufacture products or sources for new products. If you manufacture or distribute products to businesses, it would probably be worth your while. We buy the cd every year and I'm sure many other companies do too.

I use the Thomas Register alot. It is only useful for when you are looking for commercial products.

There reference material is a world standard for companies looing for manufactures of products and service on anything you can imagine from light bulbs to 15,000 HP Turbine Generators.

Hope this helps

The Thomas Register is considered a standard business reference book and is useful if you are looking for a specific product or manufacturer.

For manufacturers, the best SE I have found is MROExplorer.

For manufacturers, the best SE I have found is MROExplorer.
I do some work for a fairly good size Japanese industrial manufacturing firm, and I got them listed in MROExplorer back was it one of the better industrial directories back in the mid-90s. That site barely gets more than a handful of click throughs from MROExplorer annually. I went over to their site to check whether the listing was still there and I get Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error pages when I try to search. Not a good sign.

I just found a product in the TR that is going to save my business thousands of dollars a year. I think it's wonderful.

As far as SEO, it's of no use to me that I know of.
