It kind of surpised me when I looked at my logs and find Zyborg giving one of my sites a deep spidering.

Is anyone else seeing activity other than the usual grabbing of the index page?

Yep, lots of activity from Zyborg the last few days.

I wonder if they are actually trying to get out on a schedule to make their promise of database updates every 30 days? (I haven't checked to know if they are or aren't yet)

It was around this time in Oct at the release of the Q3 report from LOOK when they informed Wisenut would be refreshing every 30 days to begin with with the view to bring that down to 14 days very quickly.

The size of the index is forecast to grow quickly as well.......

They are setting up a new server farm so maybe something quite biggish will happen shortly with Wisenut

Where did you read this? I'm sure that I haven't seen this piece of news posted in these forums yet...do you mind sharing with us the news item that talks about WiseNut launching a new server farm?

Last I heard, it was 17 high end PC's, which explains the slow speed of the thing, as well as the 'too many users' bug they have been having for the longest time...

:) It would be pretty cool to see them go from 17 servers to, say, 50. LOL. Google has what, 50,000? (kidding...they only have 10-20k servers...so WiseNut has a lot of catching up to do).

Jeremy......just because Google has 10000 i think at last count has nothing to do with speed.

Maybe you should read the job ads at Looksmart..........might tell you more then you think you know.

Looksmart are building a server farm for Wisenut...........

Just LOOK

Ah, job ads. :) That is a clever way to get info when there are no press releases.

I will have to keep that one in mind.

(it's way over 10,000 at this point, but the number that are live and working is probably less than that, as they mentioned at one time or another, as many as 1/3 are out of commission).

The WiseNut speed problem could just be a function of their reliance on IIS just kidding.

Seriously, though - if they get the speed of the delivery up, and refresh their db more often (as you pointed out that they are planning to) then I'll start using them more.

*bump*

Anybody else seen a referral or two from them? With all that crawling they did (last month) seems they have had plenty of time to parse & index...

Perhaps cough they aren't getting that many people to use it yet?

Wish they would...I could use something other than Google driven results in my referral logs. :)
