Say Hello to MyWay.Com [myway.com]

MyWay.Com is part of the Excite Network and touts

"one the Internet's most protective privacy policies and -- most importantly -- does not contain a single banner or pop-up advertisement throughout the entire site."

The search and directory portion of the site features Google content. Pdf and other alternative formats are available in html but listed as cached which is different than what's found on Google.Com. Image search is also available.

Other portal features include free e-mail (5mb inbox), page personalization, toolbar, and more.

They also promote the site as "fast loading". Each page features a box with an approximage page load time.

Good looking site (portal) and FAST.

Uses the ODP as the directory...(In the form of the Google Directory.)

Based on my first impression, it is a decent portal and could give Yah00 a run for the money...

But seriously: Yahoo was a decent portal, but the fact is that many are still on a dialup account. Yahoo takes forever to load...

Secondly, it looks like a fast site.

Other than that, not much new....just faster and cleaner looking.

I love portals, and this is next best thing to Google having one. This one's nice and quick to navigate, with everything right there at your fingertips.

I like their site, even snagged a few emails I could never get through anyone elses. In the e-mail settings theres something called colors/themese and thye got quite the assortment of them. granted some are just bad but some are kinda neat :P

loads fast and looks nice to me (has a sort of Yahoo feel, but cleaner).

Brett, I'll have to agree with you that the html is an absolute mess! I'm sure someone from myway is following this thread and we'll have a new user posting that they are now validated. ;)

Well I guess we know how the powers that be feel. Marcia, i'm glad you liked it, i did too. Its my new homepage and I didn't even notice the 200 html errors.;)
Now the one basket can hold some more of my eggs.

I don't see anything special here. I could build portals that use someone else's technology all day long...

It's funny how this site looks just like Yahoo's homepage. I mean jeez!...i felt like I was at Yahoo for a minute when the page loaded.

I don't know about the rest of you but I sincerely don't want ANY more websites with or using anything from Google. They already have most of us by the throat, pulling their strings of God-like proportions over the rest of our "skinny businesses."

What does this mean exactly:

OK, personally I love it and have set this to my new home page and sent out emails to contacts about it. I rarely get this way about something new. The last time I saw something I liked this much was back in November of 1998 when I received the email announcing the Google funding by Kleiner Perkins and Sequoia - I checked it out then as a beta and have not used anything else for serious inquiries since. Now I get the best of both worlds - Google and a great clean home page, news with GREAT graphics (have you pulled up an article yet and enlarged the images?) I never liked Yahoo that much so this is great news.
