Stumbled across their directory and had a look for some of my sites they, were all indexed in the directory already!

The descriptions look like Espotting or Overture but a directory would'nt get results from there? or would they?

took a look around, it looks like those are their own listings.

Let us know how much traffic you get :) Their PR is about 5...though I can't see why anybody would use them, with such a slim selection of sites in many categories.

hate to say it but that is my site jeremy goodrich lol :)

the whole thing started of as a hobby and went from there. all the listings are user contributed and i use a seperate database if no directory results are found. the reason the directory looks so sparce just now is because I recently introduced a totaly new category structure so there is about 2000 sites in a hidden category waiting to be re positioned one by one.

Trust me the more the merrier...

I will list anything so long is it is suitable for all the family. there is far to much noise in the form of xxx online. I just try and keep it clean.

try the search for "clickforchoice"

the domain click4choice is just a domin I registered along with clickforchoice.com clickforchoice.co.uk etc.

Click4choice is the directory
clickforchoice is the search engine

It's amazing how many people must read these posts. I have had 58 url's added since I last logged into my admin page. That was just over an hour ago. Just goes to show that there really must be a lot or "lurkers" out there.

Come on show yourself.:)

I'm no lurker :-) and I'll confess to adding my site.

You should add an 'about' page.

BTW, I searched for "the" and got:
"Your search returned 9 categories and 1203 Links."
So you may want to use stopword(s).

Do you have any method of making sure your links stay fresh? All new links will eventually become old ones, and presumably you want your directory to keep up.

I agree about the stop words and have a small file with all the words I wish to use.

As for keeping sites fresh...

All I can do is spider sites every month or so and take a note of any 404's. any that show up twice in concession are removed. One thing I have added fairly recently is the preview page. On there, there is a small frame with the page displayed and some info about the page for example title, who submitted it, when it was submitted and how many hits it has received. (only from the directory categories, not the search)

I find most users are avoiding the directory and just using the search box. The search engine spiders all directory sites and spiders then down to about three levels. It then follows off site links. Being a one person directory is very time consuming so the back up database is a must unless you want lots of people seeing the "no results" page.

mack, well i like it - and good luck, ive added a few sites myself for you, and i like the way it parses it in front of you and shows you the listing...its a good touch...

by the way, on the page : [clickforchoice.com...]

you wrote "Permanente" which is a nice word, but its not in the dictionary :P

keep it up...

Woops! typo has been sorted.

I rely on spell check far to much. Because I used a cap it didnt pick up on the typo.
