Looks fine, although it does look very familiar. Can't quite put my finger on it. Logo centered on the page, simple search box underneath, total page count on the front page, cached versions of pages, spidering dates in the SERPs. No, can't quite remember where I have seen it before ;)

I wonder if he would be better off adding a little more individuality to it. Making a clone of the most successful search engine in the business isn't necessarily a recipe for success. OTOH, I suppose it is a guaranteed safe design!

w3c validator doesn't like it - no doctype or character encoding declaration

I'm willing to bet that they'll be served with a cease and desist for copying Google's look and feel...

It doesn't look that similar to me.

It still looks like it was designed by a coder, not a professional designer, IMHO

Nice find, EliteWeb - looks pretty cool.

I think that the C & D may be along shortly -

However, what I'm wondering is that CACHE thing - we've had lots of debates about this kind of thing before, and Brett I recall has argued a number of times the key to Google's success is their cache.

I know that Gigablast can't be stopped from doing the same - or can they? hmm...

"That logo is SO stolen from Altavista's in 2000"

Good catch... almost identical.. I'm now thinking they'll be recieving two cease and desist letters..

he he. Yep, two.

But if GigaBlast does get those two letters - that'll make some news, won't it? Or maybe not - ripping off a logo isn't exactly original, didn't Go.com do that to Goto.com? Yep, and Goto won the lawsuit.

So I'm thinking we'll see yet another look and feel soon.

Hey thanks for the catch about the logo. Someone gave it to me (i lost their email due to a Microsoft Outlook glitch). I had no idea it was similar to altavista... guess I'll have to change it. :(

Nice change on the logo...well done.

And I was browsing through the results on Gigablast, using more than a few 'test' terms. The algo seems like it's getting better, and for what I looked up, it's well done enough I"ll have to visit more (it's been a while since I used anything more than Google to search).

The only problem I'm having right now is the whole grey background, think you could change that? It's a bit hard to read.

Not to harp on the issue too much, but every other major engine that I've used has black text / white background. Would be much more usable, imho, if it was the same - though I do agree with trying to be as original as possible.

Of course, this is only one user talking - I'm sure that there are people out there that like the black text / grey background. :)

Though its not over the 2 billion mark like others...their results are different - which is good!

Many searches for me in ATW and Google are identical. Maybe Gigablast is the one thats more releveant.

All other things being equal theres a 50/50 chance that gigablast is more relevant :)
