MSN consists of results from the LookSmart directory, with supplemental results from Inktomi.
If you wish to get into LookSmart, try to arrange for your business name to include your most important keyword phrase as part of your business name, then it will appear (we hope) in the anchor text of your LookSmart listing.
The trick is, it is reported that MSN has its own editorial staff known to hand pick which results from LookSmart rise to the top. If you've made a good site, hopefully nothing unfortunate will happen there.
The rest of it is Inktomi. Probably there is a lot of info here on optimizing for Inktomi. I get good results with basic optimization and lots of links on the optimized page with keywords in them that reflect what that page is about, as well as linkpop from other sites.
