Didn't Wisenut used to have the Add URL link on the front page? I could not find it there.

I did find it on the SERPs.

You are absolutely right Brad, they did move it off the homepage. I wonder why?

I tried a search and found it on the results page, although there were no results as there server couldn't handle the query!

...or you can get in via Lycos Japan's add URL [search.lycos.co.jp] page...the top box is for your URL and the bottom one is for an e-mail address...left button submits the URL, and the right button clears the form...

This is not a good sign. Maybe they are about to pull a Teoma on us?

That fits my expectations, since LookSmart bought them. It really would be too bad if they did...how do they think they are going to build the traffic to give people rational to justify that kind of expense though?

Makes me wonder...how does a broke company afford to market itself? :)

They are up to something, with all the spidering and server overloads and now this.

I just checked again.

They have now removed the "Submit Site" link from the inside (SERP) pages as well.

Everything is loading real slow.

Something is up.

Brad,

I don't think it is loading slow, but you are correct that the submit link has now been removed from the inside pages. Weird...I wonder what is going on.

I noticed this last night, when reviewing the SE Submission services topic from the wmw home page.

In any event, when I went to WiseNut, I got time outs left and right... Tried different browsers, different variations of the URL.. then decided to run a search on Wisenut - result? More time outs.

Since Look$mart made the aquisition - I'm banking on their ability to become nothing short of a waste now, which is unfortunate with their initial momentum.

Just my $0.03!

t"he submit site still shows for me

I just tired it and get a "page not found".

I just subbed a site there this morn too so it's changed since then.

Check out this search: [wisenut.com...]

The second listing...it's a broken link! Kind of funny, when you think about it.

And the 'sneek a peek' doesn't work, because the page is gone for me now, too.

So, any bets on when they launch the super duper, nobody's ever going to buy pay for spidering program?

There needs to be traffic, before people will buy. But, my money says that LookSmart (the new owner) doesn't believe in listening to the WebmasterWorld community :(

Could they be cranking this up as part of the Yahoo secondary search partner bidding? Only by teaming up can they build traffic swiftly.

I've submitted a bunch of Japanese pages there recently and it's prodded ZyBorg to show up.

This makes me sad, I usually hand submit pages and I will miss seeing the little peanut guy :(.

Oh well, less work to do I guess for me now.

What about adding english Pages on the Japanesse site submitt will that get them in to wisenut?

Well, you may get spidered by ZyBorg, it's the same UA and IP as far as I know. However, the English WiseNut is incredibly stale right now and when they'll update, if ever, is anybody's guess.

WiseNut powers Lycos Japan [search.lycos.co.jp], and searching on English keywords there shows a preference for Japanese domains and pages/sites that contain Japanese. Likewise, searching on English keywords on WiseNut Korea [wisenut.co.kr], the preference goes to Korean domains or pages/sites with Korean content. It would be safe to say that they're drawing on different databases or have filtered results from the main WiseNut database.

The bottom line is that it probably wouldn't hurt to submit English pages to Lycos Japan, but you'll have to wait till the English WiseNut updates to see any results.
