Openhere - any comments about them?

Worth to be listed there?

Can't find anything bad about openhere.com here in wmw. Their google PR seems to be pretty good but the directory looks _a_bit_ like a link farm or like a zeus collection.

A search on google for openhere gives a lot of automated emails sent to different list accounts with the subjects "Your site has been included on OpenHere" ... a bit spammy, no?

So would you recommend getting listed at openhere or better let it be?

Same here - but it does register PR7 on the toolbar

free pr7 link sounds good to me :) Google doesn't usually do that by accident...

Well, as Yidaki pointed out, their spam robot seemed like it flodded so many tech forums, I will not waste any time trying to get listed there. That may be some reason the adress does not resolve anymore.

The thing i don't understand is that they are online since years (found entries from year 1999) but they are very rare documented / discussed at all major SEO forums ...?!

No deeper insights on them anybody? Macguru, the connecting problem only lasted a couple of hours, they are back online again now. But i agree with you!

I don't know anything about them. I only just heard about them a few months ago.

As I remember it, they looked like a bunch of other small directories, but I don't hold that against them.

I guess we will just have to see if they come back online.

<jokemode> About 3 hours ago i clicked through their catergories and ended up at the "add my site" page for one of their categories (2nd level). This was my last successful click there. Maybe i've been the first clicker since 1999 and crashed their PII because of the high load? ;-)) </jokemode>

Hi there!

This is my first post in this forum and I don't wanna open my mouth to wide for now :)

Yidaki, I just visited openhere.com and had a little cruise .. seemed to me like a ghost town rather than a directory .. the search on their site turned out the following:

GetServer found no server

.. what meens something like: sorry, but we're dead or somethin' .. just kidding bro' ;)

Seems to be working now. Not bad listings. I have added my URL here before and will continue too. I don't see any reason why not too.

I also tried the meta-search and got errors.

I just went to the site typed in a keyword phrase, and it return NO RELEVANT listings for my keyword phrase!

Just tried another, WRONG again.

Am I missing something that everyone else is seeing?

I'm pulling up results on my searches. A lot of this looks like ODP data. I am assuming that they started off with an ODP dump.

I am assuming that they started off with an ODP dump.

Yes, that's what they did, and also why I have several listings there. Each of those generates about one click per month on average.

But any link is a good link, isn't it? ;)

Their suggest a site [openhere.com] does not seem to be working for me but the rest of the site is responding.

I submitted something there today. It goes up instantly once you reply to the e-mail. So far I've gotten one hit, but it's not a very popular search term, probably.

Ahhh - there's the trick. Don't apply for an ID. Just submit the site and give a valid e-mail (I used my Yahoo SpamBox). You'll get an e-mail, reply to it and you'll be listed instantly - and you also appear at the top of the "newly added" or whatever it's called page.

Good Luck. Lemme know if you folks are getting hits from it.
