I've got one site on top of nearly all major search engines due to content but I want to kick start a new site that's in a more competitive market. Does keyword cpc enhancements work such as on espotting - I'm going to give it a try so I'll let you know. Any1 tried espotting?

What about sponsored listings on yahoo directory any1 know if it's any good.

I've tried cpm sponsored links on google and got only 2-4% click through rates for my successful site! as well as the new one, which is not cost effective at $15/cpm

Any1 have any idea how much better it is to be in position 1 rather than say 3 on a keyword search. Can't say it does me much good I'm 1 on msn search and it doesn't bring in much more traffic than my first decent listing with yahoo, and other good 1st page results with major search engines have not brought much more traffic increases over my first good listing with yahoo.

cheers

I have used espotting (and continue to do so for some sites) and have to say results are variable. I don't really have an answer for you except to say that if you have a low cost product that could result in lots of traffic (like a search engine submission site, for instance) then PPC is probably not the way to go.

In the UK, I tend to prefer uk.overture.com to fill in the gaps caused by the lack of updates to AV and Excite, plus the traffic from Ask.

Contrarywise, I have a client who has just made a 40K sale out of a referral that came through an espotting (partner) listing. Total cost has been about six quid. How's that for ROI ?

What's "espotting?"

PS - I take it back. Since this is the Alternative Engines forum, it occurred it might be a search site. It is... espotting.com

thanks MarkyMark I guess I'll just give the cpc search engines a go and see if they are cost effective there are still under bidded keywords that may be relevant to your website that competitors have overlooked so you can get some traffic without having to out bid the competition, I'm going to try overture.com but I will not be competeting with the top bid on one of my keywords that was over GBP2.00!!! ouch.

For Robert heres a list of other CPC search engines any others any1.
