i've noticed
crawler1.realnames
visiting me each day for the last few days,
asking for robots.txt and index.asp

i haven't registered/purchased any keywords with realnames, why would they be visiting me??

and while i'm here, any opinions on realnames please?
we are a niche market scoring well with our optimised keywords on a few engines google, av, alltheweb/lycos but nowhere on others although have only just started looking at and working on SEO, so hopefully better results elsewhere as things kick-in.

I've had great response with REALNAMES. Been using them for about two years now and have been satisifed on the results.

As for why they visit your site? Not sure, it may have to do with them visiting sites that people have accounts with, other than that, notta clue.

Good luck to you!~

I've never seen realnames spider a page before, that is interesting news.

If you want to discuss their service, perhaps this forum would be better where we discuss website advertising [webmasterworld.com].

If they put out a search engine though...hmm. I'm not sure their service is worth all that much, as is. IMO

Somehow, I have received a free RealNames listing corresponding to my company name. It has been active for about a year. The bot visits my site about once a month. I guess they must need a certain number of "RealNames" in their system to be viable. Sort of like a magazine giving out free subscriptions to keep their circulation up. Maybe you will receive a free RealNames subscription.

One reason why a Realnames spider may come, is when someone does a realnames search on particular words they are thinking of buying.

Though not sure.
