excite the nightmare

getting into excite

Though i am relatively inexperienced as a webmaster, i managed to get into every engine except Excite.

The reason, seems to be an old listing of the domain that is buried in excite.co.uk from about 4-5 years ago. I've tried everything, tried emailing, tried resubmitting, even looksmart.co.uk paid option did not have any effect.

Can anyone suggest any way in which to sort this out ?

It took my site almost 6 months to get listed in Excite. They don't update regularly or frequently anymore, so the only thing I could think of is to just wait it out for a while and see what happens.

Yep,

It's six months minimum. The trick with Excite is too just not get excited until you see it in your log files :)

If you haven't yet tried to link up your site from as many as possible in their index, I recommend doing so.

Establishing link relationships with web sites that have listings in Excite right now will dramatically increase your chances of getting into their database. Between a listing in their brand of the Looksmart directory, and enough inbound links, you should be able to get in. They don't actually update more than every few months or so, sometimes more if you're very lucky, but in my experience that is rare.

And yes, unfortunately expect the time lag to run around 6 months. For some, it seems Architext never really get past pecking at their robots.txt.
