Just tried
MSN's Swedish site [msn.se] It offers a choice between Excite and MSN Search, but Excite is the default. MSN is the country's second most visited SE with 1,6 mill unique visitors/month. In the UK, Germany, Netherlands, Norway, Denmark, Finland and Spain MSN Search is the default, and in Italy an engine called Janas is default, so Sweden might be the only place where MSN defaults to Excite. (Haven't checked all Europe.)
"The old grey mare may not be what she used to be" (subtitle for this forum) but being the default SE for MSN anywhere - even in Sweden - looks like big time.
Does anyone have an idea why Excite suddenly gets this distinction?
