Webcrawler update?

Just running through some logs for the week and noticed a big jump in Webcrawler referrals. Looks like they updated either thursday or friday.

Must be just on certain key terms. Ours still hasnt changed in years... Used to be a real traffic generator in the good old early days!

I hear that they are not accepting any more submissions and will not and any new sites into their index. They have said that they will do periodic reshuffles of older sites from time to time and that probably explains why you are getting more referrals.

My opinion: They will probably be closing shop soon.

After posting my reply last week, I notice that in fact there was a change... for the first time in two years. I lost a couple positions with one site... tho it is still in the index because its rankings on other keywords remained unchanged. So, out of 15 postitions, we lost two and the others remained unchanged.

looks like very selective categories are being updated.. Not sure how many people (non-techies)use WC anymore..
