A new search engine concept?

indexed immediately, delisted after 6 months

Wouldn’t it be fun to have an engine, that adds you to their index as soon as you submit your URL, based on a published algorithm and throws you out after let’s say 6 months? Sort of the opposite of what Google does. Limit the number of pages indexed to 10 per site. Take snapshots of the pages once a month and keep them even after the site was de-listed.

People who build sites are often too busy to document the process. Like people who build houses. But once the house is finished, you wish you had some pictures of the construction site.

A search engine like that would also allow you to quickly find all these quirky new sites people are still working on or just finished a few weeks ago. I would like it. What would be a good name for it?

Limit the number of pages indexed to 10 per site

This would just encourage to register lots of domains to gain better chance of ranking higher: it will also kill relevance because well established authority sites have more than 10 pages that are _really_ #1 for many popular queries.

Throwing pages out after 6 months has no sense: certainly not for established quality pages.

As a user of MSNP (thanks!) I would be interested only in what is new, so if pages older than a few months are not thrown out of the index, I would get results which are not 'relevant' from that perspective.

What you want can be achieved by having optional ranking scheme that would give higher score to newer documents - this is already done by many search engines, even though almost all of them limit users to a single secret ranking method that you can't change.

That's because you haven't created it yet. The domain is available for you to register. Then you can develop the idea and show us how it works!
