More Details about the A9 Instant Reward
You can save an additional 1.57% (PI/2%) on virtually all your purchases at Amazon.com by simply becoming a regular user of our new search engine at A9.com. Once you use A9.com for a few days you will automatically be eligible for the A9 Instant Reward.

A9 Instand Reward Info [amazon.com]

I'll search at a9.com once a week to save 1.57% on all my amazon buys ;)
It must have been an engineer's idea because the savings is PI/2 %
Behind the scenes it must be called 'Share the PI' ... have a look at the above url. Marketing probably decided that was too geeky.
Not sure how many searches are necessary to get it fired up but I'm guessing a couple a day for a few days will qualify you.
So what does everyone think? Dumb gimmick that won't do them any good or a good way for them to get more peeps using A9. Personally I think it's a good idea as they don't really stand to lose much with the offer and have a good amount to gain even with just a few converts.

hmm. is this anything different from about a year ago?

I wonder why this hasn't made more news? I haven't tried it personally, so I guess I can't point any fingers. I'm too lazy or whatever to make A9 my default search engine....

I figured I wasn't the first to find it but couldn't find previous posts ;)
Wonder why I never noticed this on Amazon.com before though as I'm there regularly... Guess there's so much stuff on those pages info is easy to miss ;)

I hear ya. Amazon's web design is atrocious. They reduced the number of tabs at the top.. but man, feature-creep city.

I wonder when/if they'll go all AJAX on us...

I used a9.com search a few times since my last post and now when I go to amazon I see a little image to the left of center at the top with A9 PI/2%
Clicking on it says:

Thank you for searching with A9.com. Your A9 Instant Reward is active and you save 1.57% on your Amazon.com orders.

Yay, I just saved 1.57% on my purchase of Freakonomics ;)

As far as a9.com search goes I haven't used it enough to say much about the relevancy but I like the integrated Wikipeida and book results (and the option to see other results).
