Yeah, and the searches go to one of those URL's that let you host a web site from a location with a dynamic IP (dyndns). Judging by the speed of the seaches, I think it must be hosted over a dialup connection...

It is very rarely for upstream to be bottleneck in this sort of applications -- time to search is the most likely reason for slow response to any search engine, ie: a gzip compressed Google's result page is less than 4kb, thats 40Kbits, just over a second on 56k modem (it has 33kbits upstream).
