Become.com receives $7.2 million in 2nd round financing

Become.com, a Mountain View search engine company that helps people shop by offering them product reviews and other information, plans to announce today that it has raised $7.2 million in a second round of funding.

Become.com is taking on more established shopping search engine players such as Shopping.com and NexTag, and even Google and Yahoo, in the hopes that people will begin to trust its search results more than those of other search engines.

No, yet I hope consumers do. I hope they start to show my site on their SERPs...since they have indexed nearly 40K pages this last month. Why would they let their spiders spin cycles on something they weren't planning on using!? Argh.

Currently Become.com is monetizing its traffic via Google on the right rail. Look to see a comparison shopping service out in July that will take things a step further.
