How accurate is it today given Lycos's loss of traffic?

Dead cat bounce?

I can't remember the last time that Lycos ever provided significant traffic on the level of Google or Yahoo. Though in real terms, the Lycos top 50 is the kind of thing that technology journalists love since it doesn't require any analysis. Google and Yahoo's zeitgeist releases generally get good coverage in the press. The Lycos Top 50 is a poor attempt to replicate that.

hahah what a joke!

Geek Chic
Napoleon Dynamite is Up 200%

Search activity spiked after the news that actor John Heder who portrayed Napoleon Dynamite, the ever-so-popular super geek, was killed in a car crash. According to police records he was on his way to Oregon with a friend and died of head injuries suffered in a highway car accident. He was riding in the passenger seat when the driver supposedly saw a deer run in front of the car. The driver overcorrected and drove off a steep ten-foot embankment then rolling three or four times. Heder had just been signed to star alongside Rob Schneider and David Spade in the upcoming comedy Benchwarmers.

They publish that rumor as fact. It's even been shot down by snopes. He's not really dead.

I can't believe it.
I just got a referral from lycos.co.uk.

Somebody in Britain clicked and went to my index page.
Didn't stay long though. - Larry

Might still be a good sample though. I mean this/last week the term Easter was number 1 - must be accurate :)

When I first came to the internet I always used Lycos - still get visitors - well 2 or 3 per site per day - and like the layout used in the UK and other European countries.
