AnooX seem to think it's got something revolutionary up its sleeve, with users being able to vote search results up or down, on a "one man, one vote basis per key word." The reasoning behind this is that the result will be more accurate, because a majority vote almost always generates more accurate results when compared to a machine generated result.
To find out what the site looks like, you can head on down to anoox.com, but the search function is not yet publicly available. AnooX has said it will open to the public on the 31st November this year.

Actually, this looks quite nice for a change. Dunno about the name though.
pretty colours. Clean.
Also -- their "profit" model doesn't state how little (or how much) their "employees" and "consultants" are to be paid in salary -- taken off before "profits" are distributed. They also confirm that they can change their "non-profit" status at any time, as they deem necessary -- ie, if we ever get popular, then we'll take what everyone gave us and make a fortune off it. If they were serious about being non-profit, they'd be filing for 501c3 status.
This looks like something dreamed up in the middle of the night by a couple of lawn mower salesmen.

Are these guys serious about making a difference or are they in it to make some easy money?
AnooX has said it will open to the public on the 31st November this year.Yeah right! Either it is a typo or these guys have as much of a clue about the search business as the calendar. Forgive me for being cynical but the Google flotation has spawned a lot of me-too operations.
The way it is offering to trade advertising space for hosting space/bandwidth would tend to indicate that it is either underfunded or has no plan.
