Considering blocking the alexa robot -- the traffic stats are unreliable and we're concerned it may hurt us with advertisers.

Has anyone blocked the robot? Are there cons of *not* being alexa'ed?
thanks

I blocked the bot for 6 months, all it did was to make my alexa ranking stay the same for the 6 month period, as soon as the block was removed the ranking started to go up and down again

If you look at the alexa stats as a guide then that is fine but the results can be manipulated by either installing the alexa tool bar and visit your site 2 or three times a day or to use the alexa booster program which sends fake visitor to your site from as many ip numbers as you want to set the program to

I am told from the developers of the most popular alexa manipulation script, that alexa has made several changes (some of which the developers can't identify) that render their scripts ineffective. They tell me they are working the problem and will let people know when they've cracked it.

Also, as I understand it, clicking 2-3 times a day from your computer is now 1-2 times too many. It's supposedly 1 visit per IP per day. YMMV, of course.
