Sounds like a great PC add-on that beats Windows' native search function.
I guess it could come in handy for restaurants and stuff, but that aside I can't think of any reason I would use local stuff online.
Maybe i am misinterpreting your msg, but I think these comments are about searching your local computer/hard drive for files/information in addition to the internet, not the "geographically local search" ala where do i find a restaurant near me dinner tonight.
Though I don't know how much I would actually use a system search tool. I don't think I've ever used the one that's part of Windows, I know where everything is on my system because I put it there.
