Hotbot previously had a deskbar tool but this Local Search Tool but the Hotbot Desktop Tool [hotbot.com] not only searches the internet, but also searces your hard drive for docs, emails, text files, and other files reportedley in seconds.

Sounds like a great PC add-on that beats Windows' native search function.

I think it was introduced in March, but I searched WW and didn't find a reference to it.

I guess it could come in handy for restaurants and stuff, but that aside I can't think of any reason I would use local stuff online.

Maybe i am misinterpreting your msg, but I think these comments are about searching your local computer/hard drive for files/information in addition to the internet, not the "geographically local search" ala where do i find a restaurant near me dinner tonight.

Yeah I screwed up. I read something about local/regional searches on another thread and got confused I guess. Heh.

Though I don't know how much I would actually use a system search tool. I don't think I've ever used the one that's part of Windows, I know where everything is on my system because I put it there.

I don't use it either because it's crap. I would love to have a good local drive search tool. Anyone given this
a ride?
