Amazon's new search engine is live. It adds a bunch of personalization features on top of Google's search functionality.

As a user I would like to just search without all the tracking. I went to A9 on the 14th using a Brand Spanking New PC. Made a change in the site info which was done via alexa. Ran spyware check today and lo and behold only 1 piece of spyware “Alexa is spyware that collects and transmits to its servers the addresses of Web pages visited on your browser. It collects and maintains information on both current and historical browsing, then uses this information to build a summary of your interest. This information is then shared with its partners to tailor advertisements to target you with..hence popups and junk emails. The “Show related links” function of Internet Explorer opens a Microsoft search page that redirects to Alexa.”

I found the part about shared with its partners a bit disturbing. I guess I won't be going the 9a or Alexa very often. Was quite suprised at this adware warning because I have been on Alexa before and it never left adware on my machine.

Talking about Amazon.com, if some people are interested, there is a blog about the news of Amazon.com(I won't add the url as this is forbidden by the forum rules). You will find it in Google ;-)
