What's the general feeling on the effectivness of the Lycos paid inclusion model?

Paid inclusion will get you listed within 48 hours but it won't guarantee a good ranking. After paying for inclusion you may still be 100 pages into the search results. Your site will be indexed in time anyway (with the same rankings as if you'd used paid inclusion) so you just have to work out whether or not you can be bothered waiting or if the cost is justified. In terms of the quality of service - I have used it and it did the job fairly well.
I don't believe the Lycos PFI is available anymore, as this was previously offered through the Alltheweb PFI system which has since been discontinued and replaced by the Overture SiteMatch service.
