I would be glad to use an alternative search engine IF it gave me an alternative. I don't want another version of Google. And that's the problem, not enough difference.
How can an alternative search engine differentiate itself?
One way is to specialize.
Google is ahead of everyone else in this regard. A broadbased search engine that searched everything can not find everything for everybody. So Google specialized. That's why we currently have THREE Googles: Google, Froogle, and Google News.
So where are the alternatives?
Any ideas?
