Looking gone from San Francisco

In this thread [webmasterworld.com] Canton noted that LS results were completely dropped and I agree. I don't see LS results anywhere.

Must be a pre-holiday money-grab.

Thought it would be best to split this off from that thread, as it's completely off-topic over there.

Ok, must be a regional test.

I don't see most listings as I have mentioned many times before in that thread. The reason some didn't see the change during that time may be attributed to regional testing and not any erroneous observation.

Yahoo has been known to run some statistical samping tests on their SERP's, it seems logical that MSN would have similar capability to do so with their SERP (and yes, just in time for the shopping season).

Imho, if you aren't now, it's high time to cozy up to Overture listings or INK to get serious about MSN traffic. (if you're not already).

Doing a few quick tests this morning, my sample leads me to believe that (free) Zeal sites are out, though paid, L$ listing are still in.

Yep I did a few sample searches across various areas and I don't see anymore Zeal listings.

As far as I can tell, it looks to be across the board. In which case, Zeal's future just got bleaker.

I still get "Web Directory" results for the first 25 results in the SERPs of one of my keywords. But they are so different from what was showing up in the Web Directory section of the SERPs last week that it looks like a complete change. Does anyone know if the "Web Directory" they are using now is still the LookSmart directory, or if they've moved to something else?

One other point - I checked some of the sites that were showing up in the "Web Directory" section of the SERPs last week in the MSN directory, and got the answer that they weren't there...

Can anyone shed any light on this?

I don't know if this is already information to everyone, but [shareholder.com...] will provide all the info you need about the events with MSN and looksmart.
