MSN UK Directory Submission

What is this suppose to mean

Hi wanted to submit a site in MSN UK directory and this came on the page:

Submit-A-Site results will not receive inclusion in MSN search results from January 2004

What is is suppose to mean?

Msn search and MSN directory are going to go on separate routes - is this the results of dev of own msn search engine?

Are the current directory inclusion also shown on SERP and will this change from jan 04?

My best guess is that has to do with the LookSmart & MSN divorce. :)

One article I read quoted an MS person as saying, "We have better relevance without them" (referring to LookSmart).

It's my understanding MSN has no directory of their own, but only uses the LookSmart one, correct?

MSN currently carries results from Overture, LookSmart and Inktomi. The main Web directory pages are fed by LS, but LS also feeds into the fall through results from Inktomi.

From Jan 15th MSN will not carry LS results through the directory, but will continue to carry LS results through the Web page results from Inktomi.

Hi there, having used LS for quite a while and spoken to a couple of the people who work there (they are incidentally, really helpful on the phone - well LS UK anyway, so i don't know why there is so much LS bashing) I have learned a few things about MSN and the results they carry.

MSN currently carries LS's results in two forms - in the main web directory and in the fall through Inktomi results.

MSN will cease to use the directory BUT will continue to carry LS results in the Inktomi replacement - the same results will be there - they will just be harder to find.

Does Inktomi have any relationship with LS UK though? I thought that it was simply a case of monetizing the Inktomi results by making them into LS PPC results where the two match.

I can't see that there is any Inktomi deal that includes the LS UK directory. Am I mistaken?

Looksmart now seem to have gone from the top of MSN UK. Not sure if it's been posted elsewhere.
