Wrong!
The directory was scrapped and replaced by the ODP some time back. No warning of course.
Now, much worse, the webmail has simply been turned off. No warning (certainly that I saw). Not even a hint it was to go. For anyone using it therefore... tough luck.
Ok, it probably only affected a relatively small number of people... but it must have hit some of them quite hard. Equally importantly though, it demonstrates the nature of the company, and how they perceive their user/customers.
Even if they had sufficient visitors to be worth dealing with, I'd steer well clear on purely ethical grounds. It's the sort of action that gives the net a bad name.
Never trust small companies, because you may use it for a couple of months or so, then tell everybody your e-mail at that site, after somedays , look where their webmail is gone.
TIP: Always signup with a Big company.

It is a shame, I had such high hopes when they relaunched awhile back. Although I'm not convinced a Euro directory is better than country specific ones would be.
One thing about offering email, with so much spam and so many viruses and worms clogging up the works, I might hesitate to continue free email services myself. In fact I'm not even thinking about adding them to any new sites for those reasons. But, with that said they should have done what AV did when discontinuing web email and give 30 days notice.
Indeed. It's the least I would expect. Just to chop it as they did told me everything I ever needed to know about the company behind EuroSeek.
>> as to the email, whoever signed up for an account did so only for one reason: having an account to get spammed <<
Totally wrong. I simply have a diffferent email address for every site I own - and Euroseek has a relatively clean interface (no popups). My email address there was very clean.
The problem of course was that I hadn't bargained for them thinking so little of their community (ex-potential customers).
That's not the point at all. Of course there is no problem if they close down. The issue is HOW they close down... simply shutting off one night without any warning to their users is simply unethical.
