When does Alexa update?

I thought it was weekly?

Sorry if this is the wrong forum.

When do Alexa rankings update? I seem to remember them being weekly towards the beginning of the week but haven't seen a change in two weeks.

There have been some random reports of things going "haywire" at Alexa, for me, I don't worry about their rankings, since non of the site I know detail about are represented accurately.

I just use it as a general indicator of a site's popularity.

Apparently, Alexa has been undergoing some "upgrades" for the past two weeks.

Their traffic counter seems to be back on track but their directory ranking is a mess. Sites with low traffic are ranking high and vice-versa. They claim that their top-5 in any given category is "updated daily," but I have seen no evidence of that.

Much has been questioned concerning Alexa's traffic ranking accuracy and to some extent, it is true. However, if you are comparing similar sites within a category and not across categories, I have to believe that there's some relevancy when comparing *relative" numbers...even if Alexa's useage is skewed toward the Korean population (as has also been claimed by others).

What Alexa amd other search engines need is a place on their home pages for news and update information. If Alexa had just warned everyone about the forthcoming changes, it probably would have saved countless e-mail messages to them in the past few weeks.

2003 has been a difficult year to launch a new site: between the Alexa upgrade, Google's elimination of the dance and deep crawl, and hardware upgrades at DMOZ, it has been a rough ride since last spring.

I don't know if its just me , but I've installed the Alexa toolbar , and I see my site going up 100,000 every 1-3 days , Is it just me or is Alexa starting to become faster in updating?

sidyadav: in this thread [webmasterworld.com...] you can see how easy it is to improve your Alexa Traffic Ranking.
IMO, if it's so easy to manipulate this ranking, it has little or no value.

BTW: I uninstalled this toolbar and I won't never use it again (I lost enough time!).
