I've never had to play with NT servers until just recently (long live unix ;)). I am trying to install a form processor in perl onto a site that is hosted on an NT server running IIS 4. I've heard that IIS automatically executes perl scripts and you don't need to specify a path to perl in the script. Is this how it works? if so do I just leave the path to perl in the script or do I delete it?

You could just leave it. From what I've read the perl interpreter will still look for it to look for options. The main thing to look out for is file paths. Instead of "/path/to/whatever/" it will look like "D:\\path\\to\\whatever\\". If you have problem calling a perl script from ssi on NT let me know, I just had to tackle several mapping issues.

I am currently struggling to get a certain unnamed log file program to work. It's driving me nuts. I'm not sure if it's the backslashes, or the fact that this particular (well-known to WMW old-timers) logfile program doesn't understand IIS server logs. Guess I'm going to have to learn Perl to debug it.

I had some problems with Perl and NT and some good people on this forum were a great help.

I actually found an NT hosting company (which also run asp/MS SQL databases) with Perl libraries running on their server and, according to my programmer, he has had no problem running Perl scripts without modification on this server.

If you would like the name of this UK-based company please send me a sticky mail and I will give you details. I have no association with this company, except as a satisfied customer. Their tech support and customer service has so far been excellent.
