Has anyone successfully used the NET::AIM module to send a SMS message through AOL's AIM servers? Or does AOL only allow you to send a SMS message with their client?

I'm not looking for code (although that would be nice (-:), just a "Yes, we do this, it's possible" or a "No, AOL doesn't let you do this, they suck", so I don't waste my time.

Thanks in advance.

We have done something similar with MSN in PHP, I realize that is not what you are asking, but we had a bunch of hoops to go through.

had to be on the receiver's list being one and a ton of others, I know it took us a while to get it working and when we did we scrapped it, too much hassle for something that wasn't overly critical.

code was straight forward but the rules were what gave us fits. I imagine it is possible as well with NET::AIM but I would look into the rules of sending and accepting messages.

Net::AIM is a nightmare. I tried to do this once, and I finally got it to loop connections, but that was about it.

Yeah, it's the rules that make this a giant headache. I have NET::AIM itself working ok, but just IMing +1#*$!yyyzzzz doesn't send the SMS. It's less "cool", but I think I'll just rely on the mobile providers' email gateways.

Thanks for the feedback all. (Where all means two of you (-:)
