Found Perl hole

I don't know what happened. It seems like I just found the black hole in the universe.

Anyway, in an if statement that I have going in 2 loops, resets the value on the right side of the operator to the left value with the equal to operator.

I've done much testing, to see what each statement that I've have written in this script, and the the value that does not need to change goes hay-wire when it passes through the hole in the if statement.

What could be going on here? Is it Active Perl?

Are you trying to COMPARE values and using = instead of ==?

Ditto, let's see some code! :-)
