Currently, my site is using the FreeFind search engine service, and that's been fine. The ads haven't been too obnoxious, but I would like to move on from that.

My site has nearly three hundred pages and can receive seven thousand visitors in a day. I would like to have the site automatically spidered, and I can't have a script that puts too much of a load on the server. I would appreciate recommendations.

Thank you.

Eliz.

Try htdig... It's written in C, fairly efficient and customizable.

If you are looking for a free, simple and customisable solution. I would go with ksearch.
I find other free products to be an overkill for sub 10 000 pages sites. Installation of such products can take some time.

A 300 pages site will add about a meg for the database. The server will be heavily solicited only for the few seconds it will take to index the site.

All they ask for is to link to them. I like it.
