sending a confirmation email after submitting form

greetings,
I work for a university and I need a way for visitors to recieve an automatic email confirmation after submitting an online order form. Here's the scenario: Our Catering Dept. recieves the form results (script is mail-form.pl if that helps any) via email which then directs the visitor to a "thank you" page. Now, what I need is an automatic email giving that visitor ease-of-mind to:
"what they ordered" and "when it will be processed."

This must be simple I'm sure, I'm just not a programmer :/

A 'quick fix' could be to set up an autoresponder at the address the form contents are sent to. This will probably be limited to a simple 'Thank you, your order has been received' message - depending on your email client, it might be tricky or impossible to include the order details in it.

The only other way that springs to mind would involve modifying the formmail script to add the features you want...
