I'm looking for perl script that will take my site and check against various search engines to see if it is listed. I found one script at shavenferrent.com but it doesn't appear to work correctly.

Isn't it easier to just go to the SE in question and search for your site?

I don't know about open source scripts, but there are commercial products to do this (e.g. BeOnTop). Either way, whether you are using a home-grown or bought one, it needs to know about the format of the form to send in the query to each search engine, and the layout of the responses for each search engine; so you woud need to keep it up to date with a config file for each search engine. Perhaps the config file for the one you downloaded is not up to date?
