Ranking DB Entries Dilema

Hi all,

I've put my Grand Plan Directory [webmasterworld.com] on ice for the moment as I need to knock a site out quickly.

I'm doing a dumbed down version and have hit a snag: I have to find a way to rank directory entries so I can display them in non-alphabetical format. (eg: best one first) but have not designed this into the db schema.

Table:

* id
* catid
* title
* description
* url

I need a quick and dirty fix. I thought about adding a timestamp date field and then making an option in the admin module to re-insert a new timefield so I could manipulate the order. Is that the quickest way of doing this or can someone think of something better?

Many thanks...

Nick

What about an additional field that has options 1-10 and the inputer votes when they make a insertion. Very subjective but would allow for ranking order.?

Cheers

Yes, good idea. It would only be me inputting so that may work. There would likely not be more than 10 sites per cat anyway....

Thanks
