Will incoming links still count?

I have many links to a directory in my site but recently the files/folders within that directory have changed. e.g: from
mydomain.com/widgets/type1/index.html
to
mydomain.com/widgets/type1_widgets/

There are redirects so all of the incoming links and my SE listings still work, but the big question is will the incoming links still help my rankings? or do i need to email every webmaster and have them change the url of the link?
Many thanks,

wasmith

With which spider?

per my experiance google will pass PR to a server redirected URL only when it has enough PR so that googlebot would be willing to follow the links on that URL. If that is not the case with the URL in question you need to get the pages that link to you to update their links to the new URL.

Inktomi has been kind to me, and follows me where ever i go. But I have had a relationship with inktomi for over 3 year, I would never lead inktomi into the bad land.
