What kind of link format is this?

Is there a name for the following type of link:

[reciprocalsite.com...]

I have received e-mail asking for the reciprocal link, where they will place the link in above format. But this link will not give me any benefit.

They also mentioned that it improves the position in Google.

Come on, give me a break!
